What is r-HDPE Flakes | Definition & Uses of PCR HDPE Flakes - Swanpoly

Date: June 22th, 2026

What is r-HDPE Flakes?

r-HDPE Flakes, also called PCR HDPE Flakes, are recycled high-density polyethylene flakes.
They are made from sorted and cleaned post-consumer HDPE plastic waste.

These raw materials mainly come from used HDPE bottles, food containers, daily chemical packaging, and other waste plastic products. After strict sorting, hot washing, impurity removal, drying, and crushing, they become clean, uniform plastic flakes. These flakes are key semi-finished materials in the recycled plastic industry.

High-quality r-HDPE Flakes feature low moisture, few impurities and stable physical properties. Qualified products from Swanpoly are fully certified with GRS and FDA standards, complying with international food contact safety requirements. They can be directly used for repelletizing, blow molding, extrusion and injection molding production.

Widely used in food packaging, plastic containers, household goods, industrial packaging, and plastic pipe production. r-HDPE flakes can replace virgin HDPE.

They help manufacturers cut production costs, reduce carbon emissions and meet global sustainable development and environmental protection policies.

As a professional manufacturer and supplier, Swanpoly offers various grades of pure and mixed color r-HDPE flakes. We provide stable quality and sufficient stock to support long-term bulk exports worldwide.

How is r-HDPE Flakes Produced?

The production of high-quality r-HDPE flakes follows strict, standard industrial procedures. This helps ensure stable quality and food contact safety for PCR HDPE flakes.

First step is raw material collection and sorting. Manufacturers choose clean post-consumer HDPE waste, like empty bottles, food containers, and household chemical packaging. They then sort HDPE from other plastics by hand and machine. They first remove labels, lids, and other impurities.

Second step is deep cleaning and washing. Sorted HDPE materials go through hot water washing, chemical cleaning, and float separation. This removes oil stains, glue residue, dirt, and harmful surface contaminants. The process meets food-grade cleanliness standards.

Third step is crushing and drying. Clean HDPE materials are crushed into uniform flakes by a professional shredder.

They are then fully dried to keep moisture low and prevent mildew and performance loss.

The last process is final screening and quality inspection. Finished flakes are screened again to remove tiny impurities, and tested for purity, physical property and safety certification. Only qualified products will be packed and delivered.

All r-HDPE Flakes produced by Swanpoly follow this complete strict production flow. We strictly follow GRS and FDA production standards. This helps ensure our PCR HDPE flakes are low in impurities. They are high purity and fully compliant with food contact rules. They are ideal for repelletizing, blow molding, and many plastic product applications.
